Flip It Over - Headstand Variations
I am a big believer in trying new things. Sure, they make me uncomfortable. Sometimes even frustrated. But I've learned that when you step out of your comfort zone you always learn something new.
Take inversions. They can be scary! You're upside down for heaven's sake.
The first I tried to flip it over, it was with tripod headstand. I barely could get my knees on my elbows.
But I persisted. From tripod I went to forearm. Then to Pincha Mayurasana. Now I'm working on plain old handstand.
What keeps me hooked? Why do I always want to find new ways to flip it over? I think it's because I love the rush. The rush of blood to my head. The rush of energy my body gets. The adrenaline rush of doing something I never could do.
So when I saw this variation of forearm headstand of course I had to try it. It may look simple but trust me, that side bend adds more of a challenge than you think. It truly changes your center of gravity.
Trying new things gives you a new perspective. A new way to explore your body and to learn things about yourself that you didn't know.
That's the amazing thing about yoga. It's truly a journey from the inside out and learn your strengths and that you really don't have weaknesses. You're always stronger than you think.
Just thought I'd share a little something to help you flip it over and give you a new perspective on turning it upside down!
